Andalusian dancer and choreographer Isabel Vázquez opens Tomares’ Cultural Autumn dance season on Friday 23 October with “Zambra de la buena salvaje”, a show combining contemporary dance, theatre and humour. It takes place at 8.30 pm at the Auditorio Municipal Rafael de León.

Vázquez conceived, choreographed and performs the piece, directed by Alberto Velasco with dramaturgy by Ruth Rubio. The production has recently appeared at Seville’s Teatro Central and the 40th Madrid en Danza Festival.

A ritual of rage and laughter

The work presents itself as “a choral monologue” in which wildness is an act of collective resistance. It explores a woman’s body between what it is and what is projected onto it, asking what happens when that body allows itself “rage, laughter, reventaera”.

Tickets cost €8 for registered residents and €12 for the general public. They are available at tomaresticket.com, through Giglon and at the auditorium box office: Monday to Thursday, 5 to 8 pm, and Fridays, 10 am to 1 pm.
