Guillena Town Council will launch PIBE, the Child and Adolescent Emotional Wellbeing Point, a Community Social Services service providing mental health prevention and guidance for children and teenagers.
The Social Welfare department presented the initiative on Wednesday 14 October at a meeting with the services, departments and professionals working with children and teenagers in the municipality. Social Welfare councillor Toñi Hernández attended.
Alongside PIBE, the municipality will establish a Local Commission for Child and Adolescent Mental Health to coordinate all those involved.
The Social Welfare department describes young people’s mental health as “a multifactorial phenomenon and a growing challenge” requiring “collective responsibility and community commitment”.
